Skinny jeans named favourite fashion item

Long live the skinny jeans
3 August 2013

Despite only being around for a decade or so, the skinny jeans has been hailed as the most loved fashion item of all time, according to a new spite only being around for a decade or so, the skinny jeans has been hailed as the most loved fashion item of all time, according to a new survey.
The skinny jeans beat out items like the little black dress, the biker jacket and even the 60’s miniskirt for the coveted top spot.
Skinny jeans, a favourite of Kate Moss and Cara Delevingne, beat out even all other varities of jeans including flares, boot-cut and boyfriend shapes.
Emily Kerr, UK head of fashion at eBay, who conducted the survey, says: “Jeans are a fashion staple that have well and truly stood the test of time.
“Skinny jeans are a modern twist on the traditional Style of jean, but that just shows how the shape and cut of jeans has varied over the decades.”
Other loved fashion items to make the top 30 list were ballet pumps, the push-up bra and a classic denim jacket.
The survey also looked at the worst fashion items of all time, and it comes as no surprise to find that the shell suit came out top in that list.

    WhiteOut Skinny Jeans Review

    WhiteOut skinny jeans

The first thing that stood out to me with Skinny Jeans is that their products are made in the United States! I was sent the WhiteOut CoutureCut skinny jeans. They are described as “The perfect white jean- ultra-strength pure white stretch denim that makes everyone’s legs look slimmer and longer.”

When I was told that the inseam of the jeans, I was a little worried that they would be too long! Jeans and pants are usually too long, which is why I normally buy petite sizes. When my skinny jeans arrived, I quickly tried them on and so thrilled that they fit like a glove! They fit perfectly in the waist and bottom. The legs are not too tight either. I am happy with the length to where I can wear them with flats or boots. I am amazed at the fit. Normally when I buy pants, I have to try them on because I am worried about length and fit in the waist! My skinny jeans are true to size.

I am not bothered by the color either. After warming up to the idea of wearing white, I just adore the color. I love wearing my skinny jeans. I am also thankful that the WhiteOut jeans are thick enough so you cannot see through them. I wore colorful panties and you cannot see them through the pants!
Overall, I am very impressed with the quality of the skinny jeans. The fit is just perfect for me.

    SkinnyJeans (giveaway)

Until recently, the last time I wore jeans — or pants, for that matter — that were any other color than “denim”, black, or gray was probably when I was a child, and stirrup-bottomed stretch pants paired with high tops were all the rage (am I giving my age away? In case I’m not, I’m turning 29 in seven weeks).
    Skinny Jeans logo
Then I met and fell in love with SkinnyJeans. Skinny jeans, let alone colored skinny jeans, weren’t something I’d even dare to dream about when I was a lot heavier. At 330 lbs, 300 lbs, 250 lbs, and even 200 lbs anything other than boot cut weren’t even a consideration. But now that I’m down to my goal range of 150-160 (155 currently – I bounce around a bit), skinny jeans are definitely an option. And bright colors? Bonus awesomeness!
SkinnyJeans aren’t your average pair of skinny jeans. Believe me, I’ve tried enough of them to tell the difference. These hug, flatter, accentuate, and all around rock. They’re designed to hug as well as contour and hold/smooth, they don’t ride low (dreaded muffin top or whale tail, anyone?), they won’t pinch around the middle or bag around the butt, and they don’t sag or droop, period. And they’re available in perfect-for-you sizes: 33″ inseam, sizes 23/24 – 31/32 (worth noting: because these are high quality jeans with no corner-cutting, the sizing may run on the larger size – I wish I had gone a size down when ordering), with custom inseam sizing available. Also awesome? They’re made here in the US, right in California. Read more about the exclusive Skinny Jeans design!

SkinnyJeans are available in skinny, barely bootcut, straight cut, and couture cut, and in just about every color of the rainbow, including black, dark and light denim wash, and white! Shop the SkinnyJeans collection. SkinnyJeans sent me a pair of All American Team Colors SkinnyJeans in turquoise, and I can’t get enough of them. The color is perfect for spring and summer (and goes great with a lot of my plain white and gray tops, which always made me look so “blah” when paired with regular dark or even light wash jeans), and the fit of the jeans? Impeccable. As promised by SkinnyJeans, my SkinnyJeans:
    • quality material that has awesome support and smoothing out
    • have a high enough rise to make muffin tops and plumber’s crack a non-issue
    • unique “scooping” around the butt and thighs that accentuates curves
    • interesting fading and shading with the color and pattern that creates a slimming look
    • great pocket sizing and placement
I love, love love these jeans. Check ‘em out:

I can’t gush enough about SkinnyJeans, seriously. I’ve been struggling with finding good-fitting, flattering jeans due to two pregnancies, six abdominal surgeries, and losing almost 180 lbs in the last three and a half years – not to mention being bottom heavy and having a case of thunder thighs, thanks to my German and Polish ancestors. These jeans are the first ever jeans that fit amazingly: no tugging, no pulling, no begging, no sucking it in, no cinching of the belt or compressing of the Spanx. They just fit. And flatter. And amaze (me). ♥

SkinnyJeans: Save the Earth and look thinner!

Shop for GreenJeans- air washed jeans that save hundreds of gallons of chemicals and "photo shop" your body! Click here for the shop page.
For SkinnyJeans founder Catherine Hart, the desire to create jeans that made her look thinner led her to disrupt the world of denim with her patented SkinnyJeans, a revolutionary denim line produced here in the USA that ‘actually makes women look slimmer.’ Tired of ill-fitting designer jeans, Catherine, a self described ‘recovering lawyer,’ jumped into the denim business with a mission to prove that jeans could be both slimming and stylish. And what a statement she has made! After endless samples, Catherine and her team produced a cut, pattern and fit that has taken fashion by storm and won the praise of celebrities, fashion insiders and women across the country.
Within weeks SkinnyJeans was receiving press from the likes of Oprah Winfrey, CBS Evening News and the New York Times for their innovative approach, quality denim and their commitment to manufacturing in the United States.
Modavanti is thrilled to be partnered with SkinnyJeans and their mission to help women look good (and thinner) and feel good about their jeans. Below is our interview with SkinnyJeans founder Catherine Hart:
    1. How did SkinnyJeans get Started?
Years ago I was getting ready for a party in East Hampton, gussying up in a pair of $200 jeans. I was looking at the jeans and thinking I don’t look as slim as I could look or really as slim as I was because the jeans had so many ‘style’ attributes that, while they may have made the jeans look expensive, they also actually made me look worse! I realized that with a few very simple changes to my designer jeans I could take advantage of those
style attributes to make me look thinner and stylish. So in 2006 I took the plunge and started trying out samples and patterns. In 2007 after trying many styles and working with several pattern makers we settled on what has become SkinnyJeans. I was thrilled what a huge difference they made! Immediately we got so much national print and television media because SkinnyJeans were the first jeans that actually made you look thinner! It was then that we received several high profile news features that I knew we were onto something big.
    2. How do these jeans make you look thinner? What are the slimming features in SkinnyJeans?
The first fattening thing I noticed about my expensive jeans (which seemed to be
shared by most premium brands I checked) was the fading or whiskering pattern.
All premium jeans were ‘faded’ to look original and authentic-aged by using
large white patches on the thighs and rear and wide horizontal lines at the
hips. This may have mimicked an authentic wearing in pattern but had the net
effect of making your thighs look bigger, your butt bigger and your hips wider!
Unwilling to look fatter so my jeans could look properly worn-in, we instead
took advantage of the fading pattern and used it to make us look better, not
worse. We took the whiskering and made it narrower, finer and higher so that it
created the illusion of narrower hips and longer legs because the leg break
appeared to start higher than the natural leg break.
We also use the most universally flattering cuts to balance the shape of the
thigh to the ankle so that the leg appears as thin and long as possible.
Finally, we use a special power-stretch denim that functions to ‘girdle’ the
    body.
    3. SkinnyJeans are so unique. Are there any special care instructions for SkinnyJeans?
It is best to wash your SkinnyJeans inside out in cold water to preserve the deep indigo color and to line dry to preserve the amazing stretch. Hot dryers tend to break down the stretch in the fibers so to keep your SkinnyJeans in the best possible shape and deepest color it is best to wash this way.
Also we discovered that if you can’t wash your jeans for any reason just stick them in the freezer overnight and it kills all the bacteria in the fibers so that they are fresh the next day! (believe me,we have done this more than once!)
    4. What is your ‘Team Colors’ line and how did it come about?
A few years after we began, everyone started copying us. Jeans manufacturers started making jeans called ‘secretly slimming’ and ‘oh so slim’ and premium denim began adopting our clean look and altered lines. Around 2009 I wanted to stay ahead of the game and branch out so I started experimenting with colored denim and tried hundreds of fabrics but couldn’t find anything good enough. We finally came up with the idea to base the colors on college and sports team colors but what does the female fan wear to the stadium? A baggy jersey over old blue jeans? Two of the girls working in our office were from Alabama and wished they had crimson jeans to wear to support the Tide. It was then we realized we were onto something and got to work developing colors for college and professional sports teams in the United States. It took two years of work to get all the colors for every school and team and to make a perfect universal-fit jean.
    5. Tell us about your commitment to sustainability and being produced in the USA?
Our entire Team Colors line is produced in Los Angeles using high quality denim milled in the United States. Producing here in the States is an important commitment for us. We want to support local manufacturing and by producing here in the States and saving on shipping everything from overseas we are able to cut down on our carbon footprint. We also have a Green Jeans line that uses a unique air washing technique that saves on hundreds of gallons of water each year by using high-powered air and grit instead of water. These jeans allow you to be lean and green!

    Woven By Words Review

If you were to look at my jeans drawer, you would find the color blue. Just blue. All mostly boot cut. Not a single pair skinny. I’ve looked at skinny jeans out of the corner of my eye like, “yea, I don’t think so!”
I think the last time I wore skinny jeans was in the 90s…EARLY 90s at that. I just haven’t been able to put a pair on.
Now, let’s talk about color. I’m not a colored jeans kind of gal. hmmm let me rephrase that. I wasn’t a colored jeans kind of gal. Honestly, I’d never, eh-ver put a pair on. I just couldn’t bring myself to do it. Then I had an opportunity to wear skinny jeans that were colored.
    Skinny Jeans
Oh man, I was going out on a limb. I figure, this is the best way to do it! I can review them and if I’m horrified by what I’m testing out, I can tell the company “um, thanks, but no thanks.” What I’ll be telling Skinny Jeans is, “plan on sending me a rainbow of colors.”
HA! My daughters would probably faint if they read those words. They know me. They know the box I live in with my clothes: no patterns, no crazy, bright colors, no frills, etc. The times they are a changin’!
I asked Skinny Jeans to send me a pair of their Team Colors collection and the colors I chose were as “mellow” as possible. hahaha Yea, I went for color, but tried to take the “safest” ones possible. When I got the gold pair in my package I was a little nervous. Also, ordering jeans online makes me worried because most lines of jeans fit completely different so who knows how they work on my body. Plus, I wear “Tall” jeans. Ugh, they are so hard to find.
The telling moment was when I slipped them on. First I my reaction was, “Oh my gosh, they totally fit me!” My second reaction was, “I love these jeans!” hahahaha Totally not the reaction I was expecting from myself.
    Skinny Jeans Gold
I was so thrilled that they were long enough to touch the top of my feet. That’s my length test. Not to my ankles, not to where the ankle and foot come together…the TOP of my feet. I prefer them to even fall to my heel. What I didn’t realize when I told them the jeans I wanted was they’re made with Spandex so they really fit your body well!
My next test was going out into public. Being someone who doesn’t step out of her box when it comes to fashion, walking out to the house in gold jeans wasn’t easy. I know that sounds silly, but I don’t like attention focused on me and I thought, holy moly, yellow jeans will definitely draw attention.
Coming out from underneath my rock, I realized, “dude, you’re not the only one wearing colored jeans!” lol Fred and our kids went bowling and I thought it would be a fun way to break them in. When my oldest son and I were getting ready to head out the door, I realized we pretty much matched! I was wearing grey, purple and gold. He was wearing his Vikings football sweatshirt that were exactly the same colors! I couldn’t convince him to wear his Vikings baseball hat.
    Team Colors
We got to the bowling alley and aside from a few glances, no one stared an pointed! Go figure! =) I was so comfortable in the jeans I finally forgot about the color and just really enjoyed how they felt and how happy I was to have stepped out of my comfort zone. And I’m not kidding. I already know that I want a pair of their medium red jeans and probably the dark or medium gray. Heck, if they ever want a spokesperson, they can absolutely call me!
Now, speaking of colors, these gold Skinny Jeans are going to work well for sports that I watch. Like I said before, they’re Vikings colored so it’ll go perfect with my Percy Harvin jersey. Fred and his kids love the Steelers, but I can’t ever see myself wearing black and gold. Great guy, but I’m sticking to my Vikings! My girls’ college is purple and gold, but more of a true gold, but I’d wear my jeans and their school shirts in support. I think I may need a pair of purple Team Colors for my Vikings and their college! I’m telling you, a rainbow of colors at my fingertips!
    Skinny Jeans Tag
So, they sold me. Not just on their Team Colors line, but I’ve been wanting to try out a couple of their other lines as well. We shall see! The construction of the Skinny Jeans does exactly what they say they will do, they “skinny-fy” your lower half! Let me just say, the jeans put a smile on my face where that’s concerned.
And last but most importantly, these jeans are made in the USA! “These jeans are All American-- the denim is milled in the US and the jeans are cut, sewn and washed in Los Angeles, CA.”
Now, it’s time for you to win a pair of these awesome Team Colors Skinny Jeans!
